Obama declares Venezuela national security threat

President Barack Obama declared a national emergency around noon on Monday, claiming that Venezuela poses an unusual and extraordinary threat to the security of the United States. The White House issued an executive action that expands sanctions imposed in December. Obama accuses seven officials from the court system, police and intelligence agencies of corruption, undermining democratic institutions and human rights abuses.
