My Little Bimbo - Carlings 1993
We just follow a set at a concert in the Cotton Club in Hamburg in 1993.
My Little Bimbo is a tune popular by the Westcoast Dixieland Bands of the forties. I believe banjoist Clancey Hayes used to sing it with the Lu Watter’s Jazz Band from San Francisco.
It is interesting to see and hear close up the playing of trombonist Gunhild. Her sliding into next melody lines combined with very effective harmony pointers indicates her to be a musical master in the dixieland style. I have played with a number of different tromboneplayers but her approach is so precise it stands out over many.
The others in the family are father Hans trumpet and vocal, mom Aina on banjo, Max on clarinet, Gerd on piano and Ulf on drums.
