Archaeological site of Philippi

Located 15 km from Kavala in Krinides it is one of the most important historical sites in the area.

It was founded by the father of Alexander the Great, Philip II, and thus took his name.

It includes the archaeological site of Philippi, the ancient theater of Philippi where every summer the homonymous Festival is performed, the Roman city and Early Christian churches.

Visiting hours: daily 8:00 to 20:00 during the summer months while during winter it closes with the sunset.
