Pasban kicks off literacy center program: Education birthright of every child: Altaf Shakoor
Karachi, September 29: Education is the birth right of every child and without educating our children we cannot change the destiny of Pakistan, said Pasban e Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor.
Inaugurating the first Pasban Literacy Center at Sajjan Colony of Muwach Goth here under Pasban e Pakistan Welfare Foundation, he said Pasban is working to raise awareness amongst people to get their basic rights and it is using education as a toll to attain this goal.
He said such Pasban literacy centers would be established in the nook and corner of the country. He said these centers will teach male and female students ageing from five to 12 years free of cost. They would be also given free of cost textbooks and classroom stationery. They would learn Urdu, English, and basic mathematics so that they could get admission if formal schools in class four to six.
He said to run these centers the services of best literacy experts have already been hired. He said these literacy centers would service in multi-dimensions and play their rule in employment generating and poverty reduction.
Altaf Shakoor said local teachers of these backward areas would be hired for these literacy centers and they would be offered formal jobs after adequate training. He said the target of Pasban is those slum areas which lack proper education facilities. He said in such centers annual expenditure on teaching one student would be Rs2720 per year. He requested the philanthropists to support these centers and become patron of two, five or ten children. He hoped that the Pakistanis living abroad would also support these literacy centers.
On the occasion, Altaf Shakoor took pledge form the parents that they would continue education of their children in Pasban Literacy Center.
