BUSINESS DAILY - Shock contraction in German economy as France stagnates

Europe's two largest economies have posted disappointing economic growth figures, with Germany seeing a shock contraction of 0.2% between April and June. The news has dampened hopes of a European recovery, and forced the French government to cut its growth forecast and admit it will miss its budget deficit target this year.
