00:02Since Ukrainian forces entered Russia's Kursk region last Tuesday, the military have taken
00:07dozens of towns and villages in what experts say is the biggest attack by a foreign army
00:12on Russian soil since World War II.
00:17We have proven once again that we, Ukrainians, are capable of achieving our goals in any
00:21situation, capable of defending our interests and our independence.
00:26And we must make full use of our achievements.
00:28And we will.
00:32A week on, 40 square kilometers of territory are now under Ukraine's control, according
00:37to Army Chief Alexander Sertysky.
00:41We continue to conduct offensive operations in the Kursk region.
00:45As of now, under our control, about 1,000 square kilometers of territory of the Russian
00:50Federation.
00:53The troops are fulfilling their assigned tasks.
00:56Everything is taking place actually along the entire front line, and the situation is

01:02In a statement on Tuesday, Russia claimed they halted Ukraine's troops and said attacks
01:07at the border by Ukrainian army units had been repelled.
01:10Kiev blindsided Moscow last week by pouring thousands of troops into the western Russian
01:15region, resulting in the evacuation of thousands of civilians on both sides.
01:21Ukraine said it would not hold onto the captured Russian territory, offering to stop raids
01:26if Moscow agreed to a just peace.
01:29As other regions along the 600-mile eastern front continue to suffer heavily under Russian
01:34shelling, the counter-offensive offers a new front that threatens Moscow's advantage.
