The Curse of the Fly

(1965) In this, a sequel-of-sorts to "The Fly" and "Return of the Fly", the family Delambre is once again experimenting with teleportation. Some of the continuity with those earlier films seems to have been sent through a transporter, but the result is an underrated gem of sci-fi horror. With a strong gothic flavor for all its "modern science" trappings, there's even a whiff or two of "Jane Eyre" in the proceedings. Pity the poor lass who thought she was escaping from madness at the atmospheric beginning of this flick!

Erstwhile Quatermass Brian Donlevy stars as Henri Delambre, son of the man who started all this ill-fated experimentation in "The Fly", grimly determined to carry on and perfect his father's work, while his two sons are (appropriately in this family) of mixed emotions about carrying on the legacy. Before it's over, emotions won't be all that get mixed...
