00:05:17I don't have any family.
00:05:23How about friends?
00:05:26None here.
00:05:28Where are you going to stay in Montreal?
00:05:30Do you have any money?
00:05:32No.
00:05:36Hey, not bad.
00:05:40I'll book you a room in my hotel until you get fixed up.
00:05:44I couldn't do that.
00:05:47Thanks a lot, sir.
00:05:49♪♪
00:06:04Come in.
00:06:08Hotel?
00:06:12What's the trouble?
00:06:14I feel that I shouldn't be here.
00:06:18Well, would you like to call somebody?
00:06:20I told you, there isn't anybody.
00:06:22Well, I'll drive out and get you things.
00:06:24No.
00:06:26Well, I'll tell you what we'll do.
00:06:28I'll lend you some money.
00:06:30Get yourself some clothes and pay me when you can.
00:06:32I can't take it.
00:06:34What are you going to do?
00:06:36Get a job.
00:06:37In that dress? In tennis shoes?
00:06:39Now, this is just a loan until you can pay me.
00:06:42Now, I've got things to do.
00:06:46And so have you.
00:07:00Did you get that call through to my home yet?
00:07:03No, the Quebec number.
00:07:05Well, would you try it again, please?
00:07:07No, I'll wait.
00:07:09The Delambre residence.
00:07:14Oh, Mr. Martin.
00:07:15I've been expecting your call.
00:07:17I've been to the laboratory.
00:07:19And the new equipment will be ready next Wednesday week.
00:07:22Will you tell Father?
00:07:25No.
00:07:26No, I'll stay in Montreal until it's ready,
00:07:29and then I'll bring it up with me.
00:07:32How is he?
00:07:34He's fine.
00:07:36How is he?
00:07:38I haven't talked to him, only to Mr. Albert.
00:07:41He says he's well, but very tired.
00:07:45Yes, sir, I will.
00:07:47Goodbye.
00:07:49Well?
00:07:51He says he'll stay and pick up the new equipment.
00:07:53I'll tell them in London.
00:08:06Goodbye.
00:08:36Calling G-2FRR London.
00:08:38Calling G-2FRR London.
00:08:40This is V-E-3-T-T-F Quebec.
00:08:42Calling G-2FRR London.
00:08:44Are you reading me?
00:08:46Repeat, are you reading me?
00:08:50This is V-E-3-T-T-F Quebec.

00:08:56Albert!
00:08:57Repeat, are you reading me?
00:08:59Over.
00:09:00Okay, Father, I heard it.
00:09:02Okay, Father, I heard it.
00:09:15This is G-2FRR London.
00:09:17Coming V-E-3-T-T-F. Over.
00:09:19How are you copying me, Mr. Albert?
00:09:21The signal's 509, Ty.
00:09:23Did you hear from Martin?
00:09:25He called from Montreal.
00:09:27He's ordered the equipment.
00:09:29He'll bring it here himself a week from Wednesday.
00:09:31Anything else?
00:09:32That's all, sir.
00:09:34Oh, he wanted to know how his father was feeling.
00:09:36There's nothing the matter with me. I'm fine.
00:09:38Tell him.
00:09:40Could you hear that, Ty?
00:09:42He's fine.
00:09:43I'll tell Mr. Martin.
00:09:45You do that. No need to call unless you hear something from him.
00:09:47Yes, sir.
00:09:53Why don't you tell Martin the truth?
00:09:55I don't want to worry him. We're so close to success.
00:09:58If you won't tell him, I will.
00:10:00I won't have anything more to do with the experiment.
00:10:03Three generations of Delambres
00:10:05have devoted their lives to this work.
00:10:08You can't leave us now.
00:10:12I'm entitled to a life of my own.
00:10:14I'm simply asking you to wait.
00:10:16For another three generations?
00:10:18For just a little while.
00:10:20You can marry your girl, then, and have your family.
00:10:25The teleporter will replace every known means of transportation.
00:10:29I know all about the Dreamfather. It's all I've ever heard.
00:10:32But it doesn't work.
00:10:34What about the failures?
00:10:36Judith, Samuels, and Dill.
00:10:38No great advance was ever made without sacrifice.
00:10:41Your grandfather
00:10:43transferred a China saucer
00:10:45from one room to another.
00:10:47Last week, you and Martin
00:10:49teleported me from Quebec to London.
00:10:52Is that failure?
00:10:54Why can't I make you understand?
00:10:59Look at your body.
00:11:01Do you call that success?
00:11:04Hey!
00:11:06You haven't finished your medicine.
00:11:08Do you prescribe this sort of medicine for all your patients?
00:11:11Only if they're beautiful.
00:11:13Now I know you're not a doctor.
00:11:15Well, as a matter of fact, I am, but not of medicine.
00:11:18What do you do, Martin?
00:11:20I'm in research.
00:11:22In Montreal?
00:11:24Not anymore. No, we bought a place a couple of hours north of here.
00:11:27Well, we have a full week to ourselves
00:11:29before I have to go back.
00:11:31I don't want to start it on an empty stomach.
00:11:34I always do what my doctor tells me.
00:11:49Do you really have to leave tomorrow?
00:11:52Uh-huh.
00:11:54Why?
00:11:56This is the longest vacation I've had in years.
00:12:01I envy you, Martin.
00:12:06You love your work, don't you?
00:12:08Most of the time.
00:12:10You never talk about your home.
00:12:12What's it like?
00:12:14Oh, it's a great big barn of a place
00:12:16way out in the country on its own.
00:12:18Sounds wonderfully peaceful.
00:12:20Wonderfully dull.
00:12:22That's why I like to escape every now and again.
00:12:26Do you realize I've been here over a week
00:12:29and haven't even looked for a job?
00:12:37Are you sorry?
00:12:39No, not sorry.
00:12:41Just guilty.
00:12:44It's all your fault.
00:12:48Pat.
00:12:51Would you like to come back home with me?
00:12:56As my wife?
00:13:00But you don't know anything about me.
00:13:03You don't know anything about me, either.
00:13:06And I don't need to know.
00:13:20If this Patricia Stanley escaped on the 12th,
00:13:23why did you wait until now to report it, Madame Fournier?
00:13:26Ours is a private mental institution.
00:13:28We try to annoy the police with our problems
00:13:30as little as possible.
00:13:32You annoy the police a good deal more
00:13:34when you turn a lunatic loose for nine days
00:13:36without a word to anyone.
00:13:38We do not turn her loose, and she is not a lunatic.
00:13:41She simply suffered from what you would call
00:13:43a nervous breakdown, Inspector Ronay.
00:13:45Suppose you tell me about her.
00:13:48Patricia Stanley was trained as a concert pianist.
00:13:51Her father died when she was a child.
00:13:53The mother was a very ambitious woman
00:13:56who wanted to realize her own hopes in her daughter.
00:13:59A few weeks before she was to make her concert debut,
00:14:03her mother died suddenly.
00:14:05When was this?
00:14:07About a year ago.
00:14:09Without the mother's strength,
00:14:11Patricia became almost helpless.
00:14:14On the night of her first concert,
00:14:16she never got any further than the dressing room.
00:14:19She became a child again.
00:14:21They found her on the floor, weeping hysterically.
00:14:24And it was then she was committed to your institution?
00:14:27Shortly afterwards.
00:14:29And how did she respond to treatment?
00:14:31We felt she was making an excellent recovery.
00:14:34Martin, what's the matter?
00:14:36Are you ill?
00:14:39No.
00:14:40No, I'm all right, but...
00:14:42You'd better get back.
00:14:46Quickly, get back into the car. I'll drive.
00:14:50I'll drive.
00:14:52I'll drive.
00:14:54I'll drive.
00:14:56I'll drive.
00:14:58I'll drive.
00:15:00I'll drive.
00:15:02I'll drive.
00:15:28Martin?
00:15:30Put the car away.
00:15:34Martin, are you all right?
00:16:00Oh, I didn't think you'd ever come.
00:16:02I've been ringing and ringing.
00:16:04I want you to open Mr. Delambre's door, room 104.
00:16:07I can't.
00:16:09It's not allowed.
00:16:16104, you said, miss?
00:16:18Yes. You see, he's been ill,
00:16:20and now he doesn't seem to answer.
00:16:23Orissa?
00:16:31Oh, Martin, I was so worried.
00:16:33Why didn't you answer?
00:16:35I'm sorry, Pat.
00:16:37I must have fainted or something.
00:16:39Oh, darling.
00:16:41Martin, I was so worried.
00:16:43Why didn't you answer?
00:16:45I'm sorry, Pat.
00:16:47I must have fainted or something.
00:16:49Oh, darling.
00:17:11Oh, darling.
00:17:41Ah, Mr. Martin.
00:17:43I'm relieved you're here.
00:17:45Your father needs you.
00:17:47Ty?
00:17:49This is Mrs. Delambre, my wife.
00:17:51It is a privilege
00:17:53to welcome you to this house,
00:17:55Mrs. Delambre.
00:17:57I wish you much happiness here.
00:17:59Thank you very much, Ty.
00:18:01This is a surprise, Mr. Martin.
00:18:03Congratulations.
00:18:05Well, thank you, Ty.
00:18:07We'll be in our room.
00:18:09Oh, the things are in the car.
00:18:11Your father, Mr. Martin?
00:18:13He'd like you to call him immediately.
00:18:15What time?
00:18:17On the hour.
00:18:19Did she say where she was going?
00:18:21No, Inspector.
00:18:23Her address doesn't help very much, does it?
00:18:25Why did she leave?
00:18:27I don't know.
00:18:29Did she have any visitors, any phone calls?
00:18:31No, she spent all her time with the gentleman.
00:18:33Gentleman?
00:18:35The one she came with.
00:18:37He had the room opposite.
00:18:39He left with her this morning.
00:18:41Perhaps his address will be a little more explicit.
00:18:46Martin Delambre.
00:19:00You did that beautifully.
00:19:04I like this room.
00:19:06I hoped you would.
00:19:08I'm sorry my father can't be here to do the honors.
00:19:10When will he be back?
00:19:12I shall know more when I talk to him later.
00:19:14Do you think he'll like me?
00:19:16Of course he will.
00:19:19Now you get settled.
00:19:21I'll be back as soon as I can.
00:19:36Yes?
00:19:40Oh, would you just put them on the bed?
00:19:42Here, let me help you.
00:19:50How do you do?
00:19:52I'm Mrs. Delambre.

00:20:39Did you get the equipment?
00:20:41Yeah, I brought it with me this evening.
00:20:43Hey, what's all the excitement?
00:20:45Well, I don't know how, but the authorities here
00:20:47have found out that I don't have my passport.
00:20:49In order...
00:20:51You know what it would mean if I had to explain
00:20:53how I got here without it.
00:20:55I've been hiding in the lab.
00:20:57Now, you've got to get me back to Canada.
00:20:59How long will it take to install the equipment?
00:21:01I don't know.
00:21:03But it should be tested.
00:21:05We haven't got time for testing.
00:21:07I must get out today.
00:21:09I can't let you take that risk.
00:21:11Let me decide that.

00:28:06Barton,
00:28:08earlier today,
00:28:10I had a feeling
00:28:12that something had happened.
00:28:14Earlier on the radio,
00:28:16I heard a woman's voice
00:28:18in this laboratory.
00:28:20It wasn't Wanda's.
00:28:22No, no, it wasn't.
00:28:24Ty, would you mind?
00:28:28I'll get your bed ready, sir.

00:28:48You can't.
00:28:50It's done, Father.
00:28:52Send her back.
00:28:54You mustn't do this to her.
00:28:56I can't.
00:28:58My God, if you won't understand,
00:29:00who will?
00:29:02I want a life of my own.
00:29:06That's strange.
00:29:08Albert told me the same thing.
00:29:10In those very words,
00:29:12Al? Albert's met a girl.
00:29:14It's all right for him.
00:29:16He doesn't have my problems.
00:29:18Martin,
00:29:20it won't work.
00:29:22What about her parents, her friends?
00:29:24Her parents are dead.
00:29:26She has no friends.
00:29:28No one will come looking for her.
00:29:32I made an appointment with Inspector Schiraz,
00:29:34ex-Inspector Schiraz, really,
00:29:36for this afternoon at 4.
00:29:38Let's see what this has to do with finding Patricia Stanley.
00:29:40You will, when Inspector Schiraz
00:29:42tells you about the fly.
00:29:44What on earth are you talking about?
00:29:46I thought you might remember.
00:29:48Inspector Schiraz was on the original
00:29:50Delambre case, before the family moved from Montreal.
00:29:52So this Martin Delambre
00:29:54has been involved with the police before?
00:29:56Not Martin. His grandfather.
00:29:58Inspector René,
00:30:00I'm not really interested in Martin Delambre,
00:30:02let alone his grandfather.
00:30:04I'm only interested in finding
00:30:06Patricia Stanley.
00:30:36Good morning.
00:30:38Good afternoon.
00:30:40Is it that late?
00:30:42It's after one.
00:30:44My father is here.
00:30:46What? Here in the house?
00:30:48Waiting to meet his daughter-in-law.
00:30:50I bet he won't wait much longer.
00:31:06Hi.
00:31:08This is Pat.
00:31:10Welcome, my dear.
00:31:12You are a pleasant surprise.
00:31:16At least we don't have to say we've heard so much about each other that...
00:31:18I was afraid you'd be angry.
00:31:20We should have asked your approval.
00:31:22I've already given it, gladly.
00:31:24Mr. Martin.
00:31:26Shall we sit down?
00:31:36Did you have a pleasant trip?
00:31:38Excellent.
00:31:40I didn't expect to meet you so soon.
00:31:42I thought Martin said you were in London.
00:31:44Well, travel is so much quicker these days.
00:31:46One can get any place almost in a flash.
00:31:50There's someone at the gate.
00:31:52I think I'd better go myself.
00:31:54Anything I can do?
00:31:56Yeah. Keep Patricia entertained until I get back.
00:31:58I'm afraid that's easier said than done.
00:32:00We keep pretty much to ourselves here.
00:32:02I hope you don't mind.
00:32:04Oh, not with this lovely piano here.
00:32:06Do you play?
00:32:08Oh, yes.
00:32:10That is, I did, but I'm out of practice.
00:32:12I wouldn't use that one if I were you.
00:32:14It really shouldn't be in this room.
00:32:16It's much too damp.
00:32:18Why, it has a lovely tone.
00:32:34Oh.
00:33:04Oh.
00:33:24Be quiet now.
00:33:26Be quiet, Judith.
00:33:28Be quiet.
00:33:34Have you finished your lunch?
00:33:40Silence!
00:33:42There'll be no more food for you today.
00:33:44None!
00:33:54I'll take the dish.
00:34:14You're hurting me.
00:34:18Let go, Judith.
00:34:28My hand.
00:34:30I'll have to go now.
00:34:32Wash away the blood.
00:34:50I'm Martin Delambre. You wanted to talk to me?
00:34:52I'm Inspector Ronay.
00:34:54What have you done with Patricia Stanley?
00:34:56Who are you?
00:34:58This is Madame Fournier.
00:35:00Miss Stanley never mentioned you?
00:35:02That does not surprise me.
00:35:04Madame Fournier operates the asylum
00:35:06from which Miss Stanley escaped.
00:35:08The girl's mentally ill, Mr. Delambre.
00:35:10We'll have to take her back.
00:35:12So she did not tell you about that.
00:35:14Where is she?
00:35:18Miss Stanley and I were married yesterday.
00:35:20I do not believe you.
00:35:22I don't care what you believe.
00:35:24I am responsible for Patricia.
00:35:26I have a right to see her.
00:35:28Absolutely not.
00:35:30She's within her rights, Mr. Delambre.
00:35:32Do you have a search warrant?
00:35:34It will be a simple matter to get one.
00:35:36Madame Fournier was anxious to avoid
00:35:38unnecessary publicity.
00:35:54Beautiful, my dear.
00:35:56You play very well.
00:35:58I'm out of practice.
00:36:00I haven't felt like playing
00:36:02for a long time.
00:36:08Pat!
00:36:12Martin?
00:36:14Who are these people?
00:36:16Inspector Ronay and Madame Fournier.
00:36:18They're here to see you.
00:36:20Martin?
00:36:22Who are these people?
00:36:24Inspector Ronay and Madame Fournier.
00:36:26I told them that Pat and I were married,
00:36:28but they wouldn't believe me.
00:36:30I assure you they are.
00:36:32I'm her father-in-law. I should know.
00:36:34Why ask Ty to get me this?
00:36:36She won't believe me.
00:36:38Perhaps she'll believe a certificate of marriage.
00:36:42It's genuine.
00:36:44I think you should know
00:36:46that your daughter-in-law
00:36:48is being treated for a mental ailment.
00:36:52She appears to have made a remarkable recovery
00:36:54since leaving your hands.
00:36:56We will require a full release, of course.
00:36:58You send the papers along
00:37:00and the post inspector will sign anything you want.
00:37:04I'd like to speak to Madame Delambre, if I may.
00:37:08I think, Inspector, that my wife has been disturbed enough today.
00:37:12Ty, would you show them out, please?
00:39:40Darling?
00:39:42Oh, Martin.
00:39:44Darling, you've gone.
00:39:46They won't bother you again.
00:39:48Martin,
00:39:50I saw something.
00:39:52Where?
00:39:56Over there.
00:39:58I hoped you wouldn't go there.
00:40:02I meant to warn you.
00:40:04What is it?
00:40:06They're animals.
00:40:08Part of a research experiment.
00:40:10But that's horrible.
00:40:12You didn't tell me it was that sort of work.
00:40:14Pat, I didn't tell you anything.
00:40:16And you didn't tell me anything.
00:40:18That's what we agreed on.
00:40:20Well, now she's been here,
00:40:22I want to tell you.
00:40:24Not now.
00:40:26First, we'll have a drink.
00:40:28Then we'll have some lunch,
00:40:30and then you'll feel more like talking.
00:40:36It's seldom me.
00:40:38I'd have warned you against marrying a scientist.
00:40:40I'm not sorry.
00:40:42The work with animals distresses you, though.
00:40:44I know.
00:40:46I watched you when Martin was explaining.
00:40:48Well, if Martin has to do it,
00:40:50I'm sure it's all right.
00:40:52Until you understand our work better,
00:40:54I suggest that you avoid the animal cages.
00:40:56I will.
00:40:58And thank you for not minding about me.
00:41:02What are you going to do now?
00:41:04Unpack.
00:41:06All right.
00:41:08I've got some work to do with Father.
00:41:12Come down as soon as you're finished,
00:41:14and I'll show you the grounds.
00:41:16All right.
00:41:32Go.
00:41:36Here.
00:41:38Over here and lie down.
00:41:42Easy.
00:42:00When did this start again?
00:42:02I don't know.
00:42:04I was careless.
00:42:06In Montreal.
00:42:08They must have created an imbalance.
00:42:10Neither one of us can afford to be careless.
00:42:12You know that.
00:42:14Martin.
00:42:16This marriage is forcing our hand.
00:42:20We can't work in secrecy much longer.
00:42:24When am I ready?
00:42:26You'll have to go ahead, ready or not.
00:42:28Why?
00:42:32I think it was Albert
00:42:34who told the London authorities about my passport.
00:42:36I know Al hates her work,
00:42:38but he wouldn't do that.
00:42:40Since he met that girl in London,
00:42:42he's been ready to chuck the whole thing.
00:42:44And now this policeman's showing up here.
00:42:46You know how they are.
00:42:48They'll rake over the whole thing again.
00:42:50They'll find some excuse to search the place.
00:42:52Then we'll have to move quickly.
00:42:54You and I have got to go to Montreal today,
00:42:56wind up our financial affairs.
00:42:58I can't leave Pat alone.
00:43:00It'll only take a few hours.
00:43:02You can explain it to her.
00:43:04If we're away as soon as you're fit,
00:43:06we can be back at midnight.
00:43:08Inspector Sharas?
00:43:10I'm awake. I'm awake.
00:43:12There's a telephone call for you.
00:43:14Uh-oh.
00:43:18It's from an Inspector Roney.
00:43:20Oh, I thought he was coming to see me.
00:43:26Hello?
00:43:28Hello?
00:43:30Sharas here.
00:43:32Roney here, sir.
00:43:34I won't be coming out to see you after all.
00:43:36I thought you were on to something about the Delambre's.
00:43:38I'm afraid I wasted your time, Inspector.
00:43:40Delambre's case was a bit before my day,
00:43:42and I had been hoping you'd give me the background.
00:43:44It turns out I don't need it.
00:43:46Why not?
00:43:48Martin Delambre married this girl, Patricia Stanley.
00:43:50But that's impossible.
00:43:52Martin Delambre's married already,
00:43:54has been for years.
00:43:56What do you mean, was married?
00:43:58Still is, as far as I know.
00:44:00Well, they could be divorced.
00:44:02Or she may have died.
00:44:04My interest in the Delambre case is well known.
00:44:06If there'd been a death or a divorce in the family,
00:44:08someone would have told me.
00:44:10I'll check it, sir.
00:44:12What can you tell me about her?
00:44:14Martin met her at the university.
00:44:16She's a brilliant girl.
00:44:18Fine pianist, too.
00:44:20Her name is Judith.
00:44:26Martin.
00:44:28Martin.
00:44:54Martin.
00:44:58Martin.
00:45:28Martin.
00:45:58Martin.
00:46:00Martin.
00:46:02Martin.
00:46:04Martin.
00:46:06Martin.
00:46:08Martin.
00:46:10Martin.
00:46:12Martin.
00:46:14Martin.
00:46:16Martin.
00:46:18Martin.
00:46:20Martin.
00:46:22Martin.
00:46:24Martin.
00:46:26Martin.
00:46:28Martin.
00:46:30Martin.
00:46:32Martin.
00:46:34Martin.
00:46:36Martin.
00:46:38Martin.
00:46:40Martin.
00:46:42Martin.
00:46:44Martin.
00:46:46Martin.
00:46:48Martin.
00:46:50Martin.
00:46:52Martin.
00:46:54Martin.
00:46:56Martin.
00:46:58Martin.
00:47:00Martin.
00:47:02Martin.
00:47:04Martin.
00:47:06Martin.
00:47:08Martin.
00:47:10Martin.
00:47:12Martin.
00:47:14Martin.
00:47:16Martin.
00:47:18Martin.
00:47:20Martin.
00:47:22Martin.
00:47:40Come, Judith.
00:47:42It's time to go now.
00:47:52Darling, darling, you've been having a nightmare.
00:48:13Oh, Matt.
00:48:14It was all just a bad dream.
00:48:18No, no it wasn't.
00:48:21It all happened.
00:48:25I went down and that woman thing was playing.
00:48:33It isn't possible.
00:48:35Martin, it was real.
00:48:39Juan was there.
00:48:45You don't believe me, do you?
00:48:48We better have Juan up here.
00:48:50I'll get her.
00:48:53Martin, you've got to believe me.
00:48:56I did see it.
00:48:57It was...
00:48:58Honey, sometimes when you're upset...
00:49:00I was wide awake.
00:49:02I remember everything.
00:49:04I put on my robe.
00:49:06I couldn't find my slippers and...
00:49:11Juan, when you saw my wife in the conservatory in her bare feet,
00:49:15why didn't you help her back to bed?
00:49:17I'm sorry, Mr. Martin.
00:49:19I was in the conservatory, but I didn't see your wife.
00:49:25Was anyone playing the piano tonight?
00:49:28No.
00:49:29She's lying.
00:49:32I saw her.
00:49:33Patricia, please.
00:49:34Stop it.
00:49:35I'll make her tell the truth.
00:49:36Don't you understand?
00:49:37She's lying.
00:49:39She was there with that thing.
00:49:42Martin, I won't stand for this.
00:49:46Please make her tell the truth.
00:49:48I think you'd better go.
00:49:52You're all against me.
00:49:54You won't believe anything I say.
00:49:56Pat, Patricia, no one is against you.
00:50:00We just know that you're wrong.
00:50:02You couldn't have seen anything.
00:50:04There's nothing like that in our house.
00:50:06Now, you've had a pretty bad nightmare.
00:50:09I'm sorry, but you'd better pull yourself together.
00:50:13I'll see you both in the morning.
00:50:15Good night, Father.
00:50:16Good night.
00:50:20Oh, Martin.
00:50:22I'm sorry.
00:50:30Come on.
00:50:43What is happening, Martin?
00:50:47Happening?
00:50:49I know I wasn't dreaming.
00:50:51But that means that horrible thing is in the house.
00:50:56And that can't be true.
00:51:00So what is happening to me?
00:51:03Am I...
00:51:04Pat.
00:51:05Pat.
00:51:07It was only a nightmare.
00:51:10You must believe me.
00:51:12You must trust me.
00:51:14However real anything may seem.
00:51:17I do trust you, Martin.
00:51:20I love you.
00:51:22You believe me?
00:51:24I love you.
00:51:29You will not let Judith out again.
00:51:32Except by Mr. Martin's order or mine.
00:51:36Is that understood?
00:51:38He will never let her out now.
00:51:40That girl here.
00:51:44Well, thank you very much for your support last night.
00:51:48Did she take her tablets?
00:51:49Yeah.
00:51:50She should sleep for the rest of the day.
00:51:53How does she feel?
00:51:59She thinks she's going mad.
00:52:03Might be better if I just simply told her the truth.
00:52:06You can't.
00:52:07I can't stand by and let that happen to her.
00:52:10Good God, Father.
00:52:12Hasn't she been through enough?
00:52:14Martin, we can help her.
00:52:16We can help ourselves too at the same time.
00:52:19We can save everything we've worked for.
00:52:22And we can show her there is no creature in our house.
00:52:27But we've got to have strength.
00:52:29Go on.
00:52:31We've got to teleport Samuels and Dill to London immediately.
00:52:37And we've got to get rid of all evidence before that detective comes back.
00:52:42What will happen in London?
00:52:44Albert will dispose of them.
00:52:46He won't do it.
00:52:48Then I'll have to give him no alternative.
00:52:54Remember, Albert is in this as deep as all of us.
00:53:00You've got it all figured out, haven't you, Father?
00:53:02Well, they're no longer human.
00:53:04They're just suffering animals.
00:53:07And you'll have to show Patricia the empty cages to convince her, you know.
00:53:12You haven't mentioned Judith.
00:53:15Do we teleport her?
00:53:17Since you'll be remarried, I think that decision is up to you.
00:53:47Come on.
00:54:18Come on.
00:54:33You better take it easy. I'll handle the other one.
00:54:48That was the original laboratory in which Martin's grandfather made his first experiments.
00:54:54He disintegrated an object in one glass case and reintegrated it in the other.
00:54:59Ultimately, of course, he had to find out if he could do it with a human being.
00:55:04And he tried it on himself.
00:55:06Tragically, yes.
00:55:08But he failed to notice there was a common housefly in the case with him.
00:55:15And when he reintegrated, he was like that.
00:55:20It's unbelievable.
00:55:22I didn't believe it myself.
00:55:24When his wife told me, I thought she was deranged.
00:55:28And then I saw it.
00:55:30You saw the fly?
00:55:32Yes.
00:55:33That was the beginning of the curse of the Delambre's, the curse of the fly, you may say.
00:55:39Later, his son reversed the experiment and put the fly and the monster in the glass case
00:55:44and restored them to their original condition.
00:55:49No effects? No deformities?
00:55:52None that you can see.
00:55:54Flies, you know, have a brief span of life, usually dying off in the cold of the first winter.
00:56:00Martin and his father are affected by cold and also at times by a premature and very rapid aging.
00:56:08They have to have regular injections of a special serum.
00:56:12The other brother Albert's quite normal.
00:57:38Ah!
00:57:54Calling G2FRR London.
00:57:57Come in, G2FRR.
00:58:00This is VE3GDF, over.
00:58:06Any answer?
00:58:07No.
00:58:08Take the cabinet down, will you?
00:58:28Isolate her arm.
00:58:37G2FRR London.
00:59:07G2FRR London.
00:59:37G2FRR London.
00:59:38G2FRR London.
01:00:08Calling G2FRR London.
01:00:10Calling G2FRR London.
01:00:12This is VE3GDF.
01:00:14Come in, G2FRR.
01:00:16Keep trying. We must reach him.
01:00:18Calling G2FRR London.
01:00:20Calling G2FRR London.
01:00:22This is VE3GDF.
01:00:24Come in, G2FRR.
01:00:26G2FRR.
01:00:28G2FRR.
01:00:30G2FRR.
01:00:32G2FRR.
01:00:34G2FRR.
01:00:37This is G2FRR London.
01:00:39Come in, VE3GDF.
01:00:41Where the hell have you been, Al?
01:00:42Here, let me speak with him.
01:00:44Albert, this is your father.
01:00:47Now listen carefully.
01:00:49We've had an emergency here.
01:00:51I want you to reintegrate immediately.
01:00:53Do you understand?
01:00:55Why did you disintegrate?
01:00:56We can't talk on the radio.
01:00:58I want you to dispose of it, if you can't.
01:01:02Wait till Martin and I get there.
01:01:04Check your radio every hour.
01:01:06Everything we've worked for depends on you.
01:01:09We'll contact you later in the day.
01:01:11This is VE3GDF signing clear.
01:01:24They put them both through.
01:01:27How will they reintegrate?
01:01:29I don't know, Martin.
01:01:31I don't know, Martin.
01:01:33A mass of cells, probably.
01:01:36But easier to kill than an animal, even for Albert.
01:01:42Will I become like you?
01:01:45We're scientists.
01:01:47We have to do things we hate.
01:01:49That even sicken us.
01:02:01Telephone for you, sir.
01:02:03It's Inspector Ronnie.
01:03:31No, no, that won't be necessary.
01:03:33You don't have to come here.
01:03:35If you insist, we'll both come to Montreal.
01:03:38Yes, Inspector, immediately.
01:03:41What's he want to talk to us about?
01:03:43I don't know.
01:03:45He wouldn't say, Martin.
01:03:50Pat?
01:03:53What's the matter, Pat?
01:03:57Pat?
01:04:05Pat?
01:04:13Martin.
01:04:16The picture.
01:04:18What picture, darling?
01:04:20It was to you.
01:04:22I dropped it.
01:04:27There's nothing there.
01:04:30Here.
01:04:32I didn't dream it.
01:04:36What was the picture, darling?
01:04:39A woman.
01:04:41Oh, I can't remember.
01:04:44It was a dream.
01:04:46It's fading already.
01:04:48Now, you settle down and take that tablet.
01:04:57By the time you're awake, Father and I will be back.
01:05:01Where are you going?
01:05:03Montreal, for a few hours.
01:05:15Her name was Judith.
01:05:22That means something, doesn't it?
01:05:25I said to Martin, all my love, always Judith.
01:05:31There was a Judith once.
01:05:34But believe me, there's no photograph here.
01:05:37There hasn't been for a long, long time.
01:05:41Then how do I know?
01:05:47Am I going mad, Martin?
01:05:50Oh, Pat.
01:05:52Pat.
01:05:54Do I see creatures in photos that don't exist?
01:05:58And if they aren't here, I must be mad, mustn't I, Martin?
01:06:04No.
01:06:06No.
01:06:08No.
01:06:13Tell me.
01:06:17You did see her.
01:06:20At the piano.
01:06:23It was Judith.
01:06:26That lovely photo.
01:06:30One of our experiments went wrong.
01:06:41I want to tell you the truth.
01:06:45It isn't animals.
01:06:49It's people.
01:06:55Oh, my God.
01:07:00Pat.
01:07:02I'm not some kind of a monster, Pat.
01:07:05I'm doing this because this machine...
01:07:08could be a great and wonderful gift.
01:07:12To be able to transport people and equipment...
01:07:15to any part of the world in a matter of seconds.
01:07:19Think what it could mean.
01:07:22Wherever there's a flood or a disaster or an earthquake...
01:07:27we could get the best surgeons, the best engineers...
01:07:31the best equipment there in a matter of seconds.
01:07:34The suffering that that would save.
01:07:39Isn't that worth the occasional failure?
01:07:43Judith Delambre can't have disappeared into thin air.
01:07:46You must have some idea where she went.
01:07:49None at all, Inspector.
01:07:51There wasn't any intent to kill her.
01:07:54I don't think so.
01:07:57I don't think so.
01:08:00I don't think so.
01:08:03I don't think so.
01:08:06I don't think so.
01:08:09I don't think so.
01:08:12There wasn't any intent made to find her.
01:08:14My son's wife left him, Inspector, of her own free will.
01:08:18Martin got a Mexican divorce and we haven't heard of her since.
01:08:21You have the papers, naturally.
01:08:23Not with us.
01:08:25I'd like to see them tomorrow.
01:08:28Do you recognize these two men?
01:08:32Yes.
01:08:34Samuels and Dill.
01:08:36Where are they now?
01:08:38They worked for us as lab assistants.
01:08:41They were exchange students.
01:08:43When their terms ran out, they returned home.
01:08:45I have their addresses at the house.
01:08:47I still hear from them.
01:08:49That would be very helpful.
01:08:51I don't mind telling you we've been unable to contact either one.
01:08:54We're only too glad to help, Inspector.
01:08:57I'll see you tomorrow, then.
01:08:58You can depend on it.
01:09:02Goodbye, Inspector.
01:09:11Yes, Inspector?
01:09:12See if Judge Gerard is in his chambers, will you?
01:09:14I need a search warrant.

01:13:23Judith.
01:13:24We have to leave here, quickly.
01:13:25Please, find her.
01:13:27She'll come to me.
01:13:30I killed her, Juan.
01:13:34Why?
01:13:36I don't know.
01:13:37It was an accident.
01:13:40Come on, let's go.
01:13:42No, Tai.
01:13:45The police will call it murder.
01:13:47They'll have to prove it first.
01:13:50Mr. Martin will never forgive us.
01:13:52We'll say she ran away.
01:13:57Does that girl know?
01:14:04Will you help me?
01:14:11We'll be ready in a minute.

01:14:39Martin.
01:14:43Martin.
01:14:46I'll get the car.
01:14:49© BF-WATCH TV 2021
01:15:10How long has it been since Judith ran away?
01:15:1515 minutes, maybe 20.
01:15:18Why don't you look for her?
01:15:20There's no time for that.
01:15:22The police may be on their way.
01:15:24Pack your things, you can take one of the cars.
01:15:27Tai, Martin will need you before you go.
01:15:30He'll call you.
01:15:32I can't bring her.
01:15:35Just as well.
01:15:37She's in shock.
01:15:39Nothing serious.
01:15:40We have to let her go.
01:15:42We have to get away and leave her.
01:15:45I had no right to marry her.
01:15:47We can't leave her, Martin.
01:15:49Not now that you've told her.
01:15:51It would ruin us.
01:15:53It would be the end of all this.
01:15:58We have to teleport her to London.
01:16:00No.
01:16:01It's your one chance for a normal life, Martin.
01:16:04If you love her and she loves you,
01:16:06that's the way she wants it.
01:16:10It's too dangerous.
01:16:13I can't risk it.
01:16:15I'll go first.
01:16:17If I'm all right,
01:16:19there's no risk in sending her.
01:16:21Tai will teleport you out before he leaves.
01:16:30Albert, listen to me.
01:16:31You've got to help us.
01:16:33The police will be here any minute.
01:16:35No.
01:16:36I'm finished.
01:16:38Father, you're not God.
01:16:40You're not even human.
01:16:42You killed those men and you made me a murderer too.
01:16:45Every great scientific advance
01:16:47is made at the cost of human lives.
01:16:50Success justifies small defeats.
01:16:53Small defeats?
01:16:57Do you call Judith a small defeat?
01:17:00Or Samuels?
01:17:02Or Bill?
01:17:03I take full responsibility for that.
01:17:05You didn't know what you were doing.
01:17:08I know what I'm doing now.
01:17:10I'm leaving.
01:17:11I've had as much as I can stand.
01:17:13Here.
01:17:14You burn these, Father.
01:17:15Let me talk to him.
01:17:19Al?
01:17:21Al, I don't know how you feel about me.
01:17:25If you don't want to help me,
01:17:27I'll stay here.
01:17:29But you've got to save your father.
01:17:33You can't let them hold him up in court as a monster.
01:17:37He's insane, Martin.
01:17:39The camp put this power in his hands.
01:17:42Time's run out, Al.
01:17:43I'll give you five minutes to prepare
01:17:45and then I'm sending him through.
01:17:47Countdown from five.
01:17:48Martin, stop.
01:17:49Wait!
01:17:57Think he'll do it?
01:17:59What choice has he got?
01:18:01He really thinks we're monsters, you know.
01:18:05Thank God I could be as certain as you are that he's wrong.
