There is no such thing as too much caution when it comes to crossing over railroad tracks.

On a recent Monday, a scary collision occurred involving a SunRail train and a mid sized car that was stopped on the tracks. The incident unfolded in Maitland, Florida and footage released by the Florida Department of Transportation shows how terrifying it was.

The train was maneuvering down the tracks at a decent speed when the operator spotted a vehicle on the tracks at the last minute. Unfortunately, there wasn’t nearly enough time to stop, despite his best attempts at doing so.

The driver of the car, later identified as 28-year-old Kristen Taylor jumped out at just the right moment to avoid being inside when it was hit by the train. According to Taylor, her Infiniti stalled on the tracks and she couldn’t immediately get the vehicle to start back up.

She soon noticed that the crossing bars were beginning to lower. She messed with the clutch and the push button start in an effort to get the car off the tracks but time was limited.

Fortunately she decided to bolt, but was hit by debris resulting from the impact. Her new car is now totaled.
