The dictator has long demanded that the country’s citizens wear one of a pre-approved selection of ‘do’s, but until recently his wasn’t among them.
Now, for some, it’s the only acceptable option.
His mandate was first issued in the capital of Pyongyang, but is quickly spreading across the land.
There has been some resistance to the declaration, with attempts to protest having to mimic the leader’s style.
They are most likely in vain, and the male students will no doubt all soon be sporting the ‘dear leader’ style.
It’s unclear what the penalty will be for noncompliance or if there is a grace period for those who need to grow their locks in order to achieve the long, curtained bang look.
Clearly, the style won’t work for everybody, as was pointed out by individuals broadcasting over Radio Free Asia.
One said, "Our leader's haircut is very particular, if you will. It doesn't always go with everyone since everyone has different face and head shapes."
