What do you get when you combine "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" director Jon M. Chu, Justin Bieber's tool of a manager and "Paranormal Activity" producer Jason Blum? You get something truly, truly outrageous.

The trio announced on Thursday over a YouTube video that they would be making a live action movie of the 1980s cult classic cartoon "Jem and the Holograms."

"The movie, without giving away too much, is a modern day, live action reinvention of the 1980s Hasbro classic cartoon Jem and the Holograms," Chu said.

Instead of crowdsourcing for money, the trio is crowdsourcing for critical elements of the movie from casting to costume design and are asking fans to upload videos, photos and things they love about Jem. They have already set up a website for the outrageous movie project. They asked fans to give suggestions using the hashtag #JemTheMovie. They've also put out an open casting call, asking kids of any age or gender who can sing, dance and act to upload a two-minute video showcasing their talents.

The animated cartoon was created by writer Christy Marx in 1985. Here's the Cliff Notes version: Jem is the alter ego of Jerrica Benton who transforms into the rocker with the help of holographic computer Synergy as she and the Holograms battle evildoers. Jem and the Holograms also have to battle against rival bands the Misfits and the Stingers.

Will Chu, Braun and Blum be able to do Jem and the Holograms justice? Will the story be about glamour and glitter, fashion and fame? Will the movie be truly, truly outrageous?
