Ukraine to introduce visa requirement for visiting Russians

Ukraine’s foreign ministry has given the go-ahead to introduce a visa requirement for Russians visiting Ukraine.

Ukrainian security chief Andriy Parubiy said the prospects of military confrontation between Russia and Ukraine were growing as tensions rise between the two neighbours.

The Kyiv government is expected to ask the United Nations to declare Crimea a demilitarised zone and take measures for pro-Russian troops to leave the peninsula.

Moscow will decide whether to mirror the move and introduce visas for Ukrainians visiting Russia after it is officially told of Kyiv’s new visa regime.
