Tensions persist in Crimea as Ukrainian troops challenge Russians

Ukraine’s besieged troops in Crimea have weathered another day surrounded by Russian backed forces.
Confrontation appears a constant with both sides unwavering and refusing to surrender.
At a Ukrainian army base in Feodosiya, around 100 kilometres (62 miles) from Sevastopol, came another example of the fluidity of the situation on the ground.
Troops inside the surrounded garrison were seen detaining two men they accused of being Russian saboteurs.
Ukrainian troops face another foe with food, water and supply shortages.
Under the direction of Colonel Yuli Mamchur, commander of Ukraine’s 204th tactical
aviation brigade, hundreds of soldiers marched unarmed to retake an overrun airstrip. Their approach was met with warning shots, from a man loyal to Moscow, but it didn’t halt their advance. After tense negotiations Mamchur and his men left the airbase without further confrontation.
Russia continues to deny its armed forces are operating in the area.
