n this lesson, Justin will focus on teaching new common school vocabulary that can be quite useful. These are extremely common words that are used throughout TOEFL & IELTS exams, so pay attention! Focus on listening so you'll be sure to understand, learn and improve with this new TOEFL & IELTS lesson.

Now that we have cleared up quite a few words around school and learning, let's talk about a few words that I hear quite often for TOEFL & IELTS, but I'm not sure every student out there understands:
Campus: The campus is the land on which the school or university is built. It also encompasses the various buildings belonging to the institution (residence halls, library, dining centers, etc.)
Residence: Typically used as "residence halls" or "dormitory", this is the place where students sleep on-campus. In Canada, for example, students will either rent an apartment ("flat" in the UK) or stay in such a residence.
Student association: (Student's union, government of student body) The student association is a group of a few students (generally 6-12) and in a general term refers to the council that represents students to a higher authority (namely, the university's chair).
Clubs: Clubs are (usually) student-organized groups of students with a common interest. You could have, for example, a volleyball club, a Chinese cuisine club, a marketing club, etc. Clubs will vary greatly from university to university.
