Pentagon Shells Out $300,000 Dollars to Read Putin’s Body Language

The Pentagon press secretary confirmed that about 300 thousand dollars a year is being spent to study the body language of various world leaders, including Vladimir Putin.
At a recent press conference, the press secretary for the Pentagon confirmed that about 300 thousand dollars a year is being spent to study the body language of various world leaders.
Among them is Russian president Vladimir Putin, as well as former President Dimitri Medvedev, but the identities of the others analyzed are cloudy.
The idea behind them seems to be that there’s additional, unspoken information to be gleaned from the subtle gestures and body movements made by the individuals.
Apparently, this sort of thing has been going on for a long time.
It’s said the U.S. Department of State began the studies, but in 2002 the practice was taken over by the U.S. Department of Defense.
Now, the program is under the management of the Office of Net Assessment, a think tank under the DOD umbrella.
Putin specifically was observed and analyzed in both 2008 and 2012.
Those results have not been used to sway any decision-making pertaining to the Ukraine situation.
In fact, it seems the findings have never been used to inform defense policy decisions.
