F-16 combat planes fly over Miraflores
A recent aerial demonstration was the cause of great alarm in our quiet neighborhood of Miraflores. Many residents rushed to their windows to see what was producing the extreme noise.
The event took place on the 16th of February at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. El Sol Escuela de Español members of staff were just finishing their lunch when a great roar suddenly interrupted the sunny afternoon. The noise was intolerable and easily exceeded 65 decibels, the sound limit bearable for the human ear.
A group of staff members went up to the roof of El Sol Escuela de Español in order to see what was happening. They were surprised to find that the noise was due to a small group of combat planes - F-16, Mirage 2000 and MIG-29 - that were tearing through our beautiful district’s skies, performing spectacular flying feats.
The pilots responsible for this demonstration are members the United States Air Force (USAF) and the Peruvian Air Force (FAP). According to a press clip publicized on FAP’s website, their purpose was to demonstrate each military organization’s role of surveillance in the defense of their nation’s respective airspace.
