The Sirius Cycle or 'Great Year' tracks how the orbit of our Sun coincides with the orbit of Sirius 'A' and the corresponding Ages of Darkness and Illumination.
Sirius could be seen without the aid of a telescope at least as far back as 1984, when NASA astronomer Colin Henshaw wrote an article for the trade publication

"On the Visibility of Sirius in the Daylight"

With each next progressing age, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Scorpio and Libra we will be 'ascending' or moving closer and closer to Sirius and experiencing more and more light until the two Suns are again at the closest point which is the beginning of the Age of Virgo.
