Coral Tank at SEA LIFE Arizona Aquarium

SEA LIFE Arizona Aquarium Builds Its first Live Coral Tank. The 340-gallon tank is home to a variety of coral species including acropora, mushrooms and leathers. In addition, the tank features sea creatures that thrive well in a coral environment such as clownfish, cardinal fish, tiger pistol shrimp and goby.

Coral reefs provide homes to some of the largest diversity of plant and animal species and more than 25 percent of Earth's marine life can be found in them. SEA LIFE is proud to be bringing this new habitat to the aquarium for all its visitors to enjoy.

"Having a live reef tank has always been one of our goals at SEA LIFE Arizona," said Hayley Townsend, general manager. "It is extremely important that we recognize the diversity of life that is found in coral reefs and do what we can to protect them. We are hoping that most of the coral that lives in our tank will be collected from local captive raised sources, rather then sourced from the ocean."

Local coral hobbyists who would like to donate coral to the tank can submit pictures of their captive raised coral on the SEA LIFE Arizona Facebook page or by emailing them to arizonasealife@sealifeus.com. SEA LIFE aquarists will then choose the appropriate corals to be introduced to the tank.
