Iain Dawson: Paratriathlete

Even though we are still basking in the glory of London Olympics and Paralympics 2012, Norwich-based paratriathlete Iain Dawson is already gearing up for Rio 2016. We first heard about Iain when we were filming with Matt Ellis, another Ironman triathlete from Norwich.
Iain has less than 10% vision as a result of a condition, yet is still able to cycle on his own by watching for landmarks such a signposts and railings in his peripheral field of vision. We knew we had to meet him and tell his story, with the hope that it would inspire a younger generation to follow in his footsteps.

Iain’s dedication to his sport sees him work a 40 hour week, yet also train for 30 hours a week, with his wife Jill supporting him in his training. Iain will be competing with Team GB in the next Paralympic games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, and our documentary sees Iain training for the World Championships in New Zealand.

Special thanks to Rob Wicks, Will Farrow, Oa Mackdonald, Jill Dawson, Matt Ellis, Mark Philo, Whitlingham Outdoor Education Centre, Tri-anglia, Adam Williams for helping with this project!
