Le Col - Winter 2012

Le Col cycling clothing is based in London, and is the brainchild of Yanto Barker, a pro-level rider who’s attention to detail and quest for perfection led him to start producing his own cycling clothing. Yanto’s enthusiasm for cycling is apparent in the fit and finish of every garment that carries the Le Col name. No detail is too small, and everything about the garment is geared towards getting the best out of your ride. All of the pieces in Le Col’s roster are handmade in Italy, a county with a rich cycling heritage.

Being avid cyclists ourselves, we were very excited to be asked produce a web advert for their Winter range of cycling garments. Winter in the UK seems to have become much harsher in recent years, so clothing designed specifically for our climate is becoming essential. Cold wind and rain plus the dark mornings and evenings mean that comfort and visibility are key. Le Col have recognised this and designed a winter range that will keep the rider dry and visible in the worst conditions mother nature has to offer!

The treatment for this video called for a gritty feel. We wanted to project to the viewer the feeling of the cold and difficult environment of the Brecon Beacons in Wales. We opted to shoot with the Canon C300, and edit the content directly from the raw MXF file, to give us maximum range for the grading process. We commissioned Ed Raison and Stuart Addison from The Lost Levels to produce the soundtrack, a slow-building solid rhythm to compliment the movement of the cyclist and the rolling countryside.
