JOG FALLS -KARNATKA
Monsoons are one of the best times to go out on holidays. One of the best monsoon holiday destination is jog falls, recorded to be the second highest waterfall in India, falling from height of 253metres, located in Shimoga District of Karnataka state.
The falls originate from the Sharavathi River and consist of four distinct segments naming Raja, Named because of its density of water
Rover: This stream falls on a mass of rocks making a huge noise
Rocket: Large amount of water passing thru a narrow opening at high speed, hence called rocket and
Rani (Queen): The stream has a winding, twisting trajectory, said to resemble the movements of a female dancer
The thundering sound of water & lush green surroundings enhanced the beauty.
The steps cut into rocks leads vaporous spray that bounces off these rocks & tickles the face. During monsoon visitors may be the witness of rainbow & the dusky watery background thrumming loud. There are some vantage points from where you can feel the magnificence of jog falls.
One of the most popular ones is the Watkins platform. For trek lovers getting down to base of the falls and then climbing back can be a task of thrill, fun and adventure. The very popular tourist places in jog falls are Linganamakki Dam and Dabbe Falls.
You can reach to jog falls by bus. The nearest town is Sagara in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. There are plenty of buses between Sagara and Jog Falls and you can also take a bus from Karwar or Hanovar.
