India’s legendary actor Pran, the 93-year-old actor, whose real name is Pran Krishan Sikand, has appeared in over 400 films from the 1940s to the 1990s and has played both positive and negative roles with equal passion. He is known for films like ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Don’ and ‘Amar, Akbar, Anthony’.
He played some of Bollywood’s most memorable villains in a career that spanned six decades, died of pneumonia at a Mumbai hospital Friday, his doctor said. Pran acted in more than 350 Hindi movies in a prolific career dating back to the 1940s. He played a vast range of roles — a hero, villain and character actor — but was best known for his bad guys, earning the honorific “Villain of the Millennium.”Though he was known as the ‘bad man’ of Indian cinema, this versatile actor also took on some comic roles later in his career. Pran’s last significant on-screen appearance was in the 1997 Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Mrityudata’. After having graced the big screen in over 350 films, Pran will live on in the audience’s hearts transcending his on-screen persona of a villain.
