For the Love of Static in (V)HS, Part I: I Really Believe (2010)

Most of the source footage for this project is from VHS cassettes that my housemate Osha and his friends made in high school in the late 1990s. I used my cell phone to record the TV screen as the tapes played; that part happened in the early 2010s—the year 2010 itself, in fact.

These are the sources I mutilated for the soundtrack, in order of first appearance:
1. Pink Floyd - "The Happiest Days of Our Lives"
2. A girl talking at a bar (I didn't know her)
3. Leona Lewis - "Bleeding Love" (written by Jesse McCartney)
4. Ruji - a recording of myself cluelessly pressing things on my brother's keyboard
5. Beyoncé - "Why Don't You Love Me?"
6. Mariah Carey - "Touch My Body"
7. 2pac - "Changes"
8. Casiotone for the Painfully Alone - "Scattered Pearls"
9. Xiu Xiu - "I Broke Up"
10. Cyndi Lauper - "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"
11. Nine Inch Nails - "Closer" (just the very last beat)
