Highlights of sport Gala2013 in University of Gujrat

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nizamuddin Vice Chancellor University of Gujrat while inaugurating the Sports Gala of UOG to continue for 28, 29 March 2013. Earlier when Dr. Nizamuddin reached the sports ground he was enthusiastically received by the Registrar UOG Dr. Tahir Aqeel, Principal Nawaz Shareef Medical College (NSMC) Dr. Sajjad Hussain, Directors and HODs. Dr. Tahir Aqeel Registrar,UOG, Dr. Sajjad Hussain Principal NSMC, Ms. Qaria Parveen Principal Railway Road College Gujrat, Prof. Dr. Freshullah Yousafzai Director Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Malik Mohammad Faheem Director Faculty of Sciences, Dr. Mudassar Director CSIT, Dr. M. Suleman Tahir Chairman Sports Organizing Committee, Prof. Syed Shabeer Hussain Shah Director SSC, Madam Jahan Ara Nizam and Khawar Islam Director Engineering Faculty graced the presidium along with Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nizamuddin. More than thirty contesting teams representing different departments presented their very colorful march past in which they saluted the Chief Guest with great style and commitment. The march past was an event of great pomp and ceremony. After this very thrilling and exciting march past inauguration ceremony of sports competitions started. Recitation of Holy Quran was performed by Naqqash Saeed. Rizwana Kausar recited Naat in honor of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Habeeb Mustansir best athlete for Sports Gala 2012 took oath before the Chief Guest on behalf of all the players. Dr. M. Suleman Tahir, Chairman Organizing Committee expressed his delight at the marvelous participation of the students who gathered in thousands to watch these competitions. When Dr. Nizamuddin declared the meet open, a formation of colorful balloons were released into the air, on the beat of drums and pleasant tunes of music. The ground was littered with a variety of colours, like a rainbow because students of every department were dressed in different colors. Sheikh Abdul Rasheed Director Media and Publications was the stage secretary. He pleased the audience with his witty remarks.
The prologue to the gala was thrilling dances of two horses which was enjoyed and appreciated by all and sundry. Prof. Dr. Nizamuddin gave special prizes to the horse breakers and trainers. Computer Science & Software Engineering Dept. presented a special beautiful callisthenic show. The Martial Arts team from Lahore which included National Champions came to present their skills. They presented a fantastic gymnastic show which was highly appreciated by the viewers. A tug-of-war between the faculty and the administration was extremely enjoyed by the viewers. P. T show by students of UOG College Railway Road was an event of a class. It was modeled on Callisthenics. Races of 1500 meters, 800 meters, and 400 meters and 200 meters added energetic thrill to the gala. A Kabbdi match between morning and evening classes was also a cynosure of the spectators.
