Drivers stranded in Houston floods

Flooding in Houston leaves drivers stranded after heavy rain swept through the area on Saturday (April 27).

In just a few hours, thunderstorms dumped up to seven inches (18 centimetres) of rain across parts of Harris County, Texas.

The rising water levels caused hazardous conditions for drivers.

A number of people spent hours stuck in their cars on highways inundated with floodwater.

At least 50 calls for water rescue were dealt with by the city's fire department.
