Brazilian floods threaten drivers

Heavy rainfall in greater Sao Paulo has caused severe flooding leaving several people stranded on major roadways.

At least four different people have been rescued from the top of their cars via helicopter by civil defence officials near Santo Andres.

The heavy rain showers have caused the Tamanduatei river to overflow.

Cars floated along major roads and desperate drivers and passengers were left stranded in the water.

The latest rainfall and flooding comes nearly a week after 700 people died and 14,000 were left homeless in neighbouring Rio de Janeiro state from severe flooding and landslides.
