Kumbha Mela Festival 2013, by Stephen Knapp

This gives a look at the huge Kumbha Mela festival in Allahabad in 2013, over the Amavasya or New Moon weekend, one of the most sacred times to bathe in the Ganga & Yamuna rivers, and when there was the largest number of people present at the site, around 30 million. This is the largest religious gathering on the planet. We see some of the camps and people there, and a look at the Iskcon camp, the sangam--meeting place of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, the parade of saints, etc. It was a most sacred event.
More information about the tradition of the Kumbha Mela and the Vedic spiritual culture, and more photos of India's sacred places, along with info about Stephen Knapp's books and many articles on these topics, please see: www.stephen-knapp.com and http://stephenknapp.info or http://stephenknapp.wordpress.com
