“LIKENESS”
LAUWRENCE EDWIN falls naturally into the funky Brazilian songs of composer Remilson Nery. His ex- periences in New York with Brazilians and their music, his command of the Spanish language and his years of salsa trumpet playing all lead directly to “Likeness”. This new collaborative effort joins Lawrence’s singing of his lyrics to Remilson’s tunes (and playing trumpet or flugelhorn to round out the band), and Remilson’s ar- ranged compositions themselves.
Add the singer / dancer Flavia Coelho and Edward RANDELL to the mix and it heats up! Funky grooves meet lyric stories of love both happy and maddening, moonlit scenic memo- ries, buckling down to buck up,and a plain warning of global warming. Anyone can dance, driven by the per- cussive rhythm section and the punchy horn section. Get carried away with listening, and you’ll like “Like- ness”.
