What is the trustees job in a bankruptcy?

A trustee represents the creditors, and it's the trustee's job to try to find any asset that they can liquidate to pay off your unsecured debt. And it's also their job to look for any fraud and to determine if you qualify. So they will review your bank statements, and your taxes, and things like that and also make sure that you're being truthful on the bankruptcy petition.
