At least 19 injured in bullfight mayhem in Colombia

STORY: A bullfight spins out of control in Colombia over the weekend, leaving 19 people injured, including two seriously, in the Colombian municipality of Sabanalarga at the weekend.

The local bullfight in the Andean community is known as "corraleja", a spectacle whereby amateur matadors are permitted to jump into the ring and taunt the bulls.

Fueled by drunkenness and a party-like atmosphere, many spectators found themselves gored by bulls' horns after spilling into the ring.

Although no deaths have been reported this year, Colombia's popular "correlejas" have killed many spectators in previous years.

The "corraleja" in Sabanalarga takes place at the start of October every year and is reported to have been an annual event in the municipality since 1920.
