Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika led tributes to former president Chadli Benjedid on Sunday after he died at the age of 83 following a long illness.
His coffin draped with the national flag was carried into the People's Palace in Algiers by members of the Algerian Republican guard and eight days of national mourning have been announced.
