Fill the Hill on 4 Oct: Families of Sisters in Spirit Vigil!

Fill the Hill this Oct 4 at 6:15pm! Families of Sisters in Spirit National Vigil on Parliament Hill (Unceeded Algonquin Territory) http://www.facebook.com/events/415586968488438
And then be part of the Take Back the Night March right after at 7:30pm!

Each pair of shoes you see on the steps to Parliament Hill represents one of the 582 Indigenous women who have been reported murdered or missing in Canada since 1980. And that estimate is low.

About Families of Sisters in Spirit (FSIS)
FSIS is a grassroots not-for-profit volunteer organization led by families of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls with support from Indigenous and non-Indigenous allies. FSIS demands action to end the epidemic of violence against Indigenous women and girls.

About the "For Our Sisters" Song:
For Our Sisters was written by a non-Indigenous ally as a call to action to everyone, especially fellow allies, to end violence against Indigenous women and girls. The song asks you to feel what it would be like if your loved one went missing or was murdered. Then you know in your heart that you must take action.

Lyrics & Lead Vocals: Julie Comber (Vela); Guitar: Alister Augé (Ógui); Back up vocals: Maria-Hélèna Patchouli. Lyrics: http://wp.me/pLQ1L-5Y

About the Video:
The live performance of "For Our Sisters" was shot by Howard Adler at Umi Cafe as part of a Fundraiser for FSIS hosted by The Daily Grind on 31 August, Ottawa. Many Thanks to both locations. Howard wove in his footage and photos from previous FSIS events.

Dedicated to our Stolen Sisters, and to their Families who never give up hope. With Many Thanks to Bridget Tolley & Kristen Gilchrist of FSIS for their dedication, perseverance, and huge hearts. You make the world a kinder and more just place. ♥
