The site of a deadly blast near Kabul airport where a female suicide bomber attacked a minibus, killing at least 12 people.

Afghan insurgent group Hezb e-Islami claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the blast came in retaliation for the now-notorious film mocking the Prophet Mohammad.

Several Russian and South African nationals working as pilots for an international courier company were among the dead.

Kabul Chief of Police told the press that all aboard the minibus, which was transporting the airline staff to their residences, were killed.

Eight Afghan workers nearby were also wounded in the blast.

Hezb-e-Islami is a radical militant group which shares some of the Taliban's anti-foreigner, anti-government aims.

The attack underscored growing anger in Afghanistan over the film.
