Can endangered tigers and humans coexist? A recent study leads researchers at Michigan State University to believe they can share the same space.

In just over a century, the world’s wild tiger population has dwindled by 97 percent.

The remaining tigers are being forced into small spaces with limited prey and there's risk of poaching. Being able to share space with humans has become a vital survival skill.

The study, near a National Park in Nepal, utilizing over 70 motion-activated cameras, found that tigers have adjusted their typical daytime routines to a more dormant lifestyle and are now most active once the sun has gone down.

Co-author of the study states, “Here tigers have a surprising capacity to adapt to high human presence and that tiger-human coexistence is enhanced by good management policies and a local population tolerant of tigers.”

“If that's the case, then this can happen in other places, and the future of tigers is much brighter than it would be otherwise."

Do you think this is a good idea? And can it be replicated elsewhere?
