As Hurricane Isaac starts to make its presence known in New Orleans residents in low lying areas of the city are taking refuge in shelters.
Some can not afford to lose anything.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) RACHEL PEOPLES, RESIDENT OF PLAQUEMINES PARISH, SAYING:
"I'm living in an old trailer, not a new one, and I just hope and pray that the storm doesn't take it."
For some there is still the memory of Katrina -- a category 3 hurricane that slammed into the city seven years ago and claimed at least 1,800 lives.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) AVANEL TERRANCE, PALQEMINES PARISH NATIVE, SAYING:
"They say it is a category 1 so I am not too worried as much as I was during Katrina but we are worried a little bit."
Forecasts show the storm -- already pounding the Mississippi coast -- coming ashore in the late on Tuesday, possibly taking direct aim at New Orleans.
