Many of us have a secret dream to live in a treehouse one day. Joel Allen actually made it happen. When his initial career plans got detailed, he moved into carpentry and ended up building a remarkable egg-shaped treehouse in the scenic woods of Whistler, Canada.

One of his biggest challenges was going to be the cost of materials until he discovered the free section on Craigslist where people list stuff they want to give away. Even though the competition for landing those free things was tough, Joel was able to beat others in terms of speed for all of his materials and within several months, he had everything that he needed to build his dream house.

It was a matter of time before Joel, using his carpentry skills, along with assistance from his companion was able to complete the Hemloft.

Since then, the Hemloft has garnered had widespread media attention including a feature in the Dwell magazine.

However, since it stands on government property, the future of this dream house remains uncertain.
