5 Ridiculous Excuses Drivers Make to Get Out of Traffic Tickets - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

Police officers in Dorset, England have had it up to here with traffic ticket excuses. They’ve even gone so far as to publish written accounts of the wackiest excuses they’ve encountered. Here are 5 of them:

Number 5 - A driver going 10 miles over the speed limit said: “I’m on my way to an eyesight test and didn’t see the speed limit sign.”

Number 4 - Yet another speeder tried to tell police that she was merely keeping up with the flow of traffic, until the officer mentioned that hers was the only car on the road at the time.

Number 3 - A woman chatting on her cell phone while driving tried to convince officers that she didn’t have her phone and was instead eating a prawn cracker. When police dialed her phone number, they were not surprised to hear her phone ring from inside the car. At that time, she offered a prawn cracker to them.

Number 2 - One man riding his motorbike over the speed limit down a hill complained that catching speeders at the bottom of a hill is unfair because going down the hill makes vehicles travel faster.

Number 1 - A man pulled over for not wearing his safety belt replied that it was difficult to remember new laws like the seat belt requirement, a law that’s been on the books for 30 years.
