With all of the changes in teaching trumpet over the years, so has the question of embouchure setup. Jerome Callet has long endorsed Harry James as having the perfect embouchure.
This video gives us an amazing view of Harry's embouchure up close.
His chops were the strongest of probably any trumpet player ever. They were strong enough to overcome decades of dental problems, allowing Harry to be consistent right up to the end.
This is from Harry's trip to London in 1971. Sonny Payne is featured on drums along with Dave Robbins on trombone.
