LSE IBC: Burkhard P. Varnholt

Burkhard P. Varnholt is Chief Investment Officer and a member of the Executive Committee of Bank Sarasin.

Prior to joining Bank Sarasin, Varnholt spent 10 years with Credit Suisse where he was a member of the Global Executive Council. He previously held various investment banking positions with Morgan Stanley in London. Varnholt, who continues to lecture regularly at the Executive MBA Program at the University of St. Gallen, also had a distinguished academic career, teaching at the University of St Gallen, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Stern School of Business at New York University. He has published more than 100 articles and five books, including one bestseller. In 2006 he was awarded the Swiss Re Milizpreis/Civilian Service Prize in recognition of his achievements.

Varnholt, a German citizen who resides with his family in Zurich, holds a PhD in Economics and a bachelor in law from the University of St Gallen.
