"Who knows where it all goes, don't go asking me
I'll tell you what I see if you tell me what it means"

Dearly Beloved isn't here to provide you with the easy answers to life's hard questions; they are inviting you to join them on the journey, searching alongside them. This is the difference between the cocksure swagger of inexperience and the assured posture of those who have already grasped that the universe doesn't revolve around them. That's not to suggest that Dearly Beloved bows and scrapes; they're only too well versed in the value of the hip shake and the head fake. They know when to stick and when to move but they're past anything to please and trying to prove. Dearly Beloved came to being in 2006, when Rob Higgins (songwriter-musician-producer-radio host), along with a group of like-minded friends, pooled their talents to define their own space within the Toronto indie-rock community. Higgins recalls, "It started strictly as a place to put the energy that came from dealing with the situation of my dad and his passing. I didn't just want to be in a band; I needed a place to put the energy that I deal with and music is my medium of choice. The mission was to create something authentic. It wasn't built for commercial avenues or to take over the world, it was built to be an honest extension of life. Musically, sonically, we were looking to create something that could last beyond the first listen."

Their latest effort They Will Take Up Serpents (a Canadian EP released under Anthem Records) and the corresponding US EP release of Make It Bleed (on Rounder Records) are both garnering rave reviews in both Canada and in the US. In fact, the band was invited to play at Boston radio station WFNX's Christmas show opening for Franz Ferdinand, the Airborne Toxic Event at the Opera House in Boston and at the WFNX Orientation week. DB will be hitting the road soon but in the meantime continues the process of writing their next LP in Toronto and at the Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree, studio home of desert rocker David Catching of Eagles of Death Metal and founding member QOTSA.

" ... Dearly Beloved's five song They Will Take Up Serpents EP might be the best pure blast of radio ruling non lame modern rock since Queens Of The Stone Age's Songs For The Deaf."
ChartAttack

"Staying as far away from placidity as humanly possible, Make It Bleed is a hard-charging, hipshaking, head-thumping ode to sweat, grit and passion."
Absolute Punk

"...Make It Bleed is one of the freshest records I've heard so far this year. It's got sweaty passion and badass with a capital "B" written all over it. Eclectic pop-rock with impressive vocals, hard charging grooves, infectious bass lines, electro-harmony dirty romps, consistent drumming and gritty rock guitars create catchy, hook-filled tunes that will woo your heart into bed and make love to it like an animal in heat"
