PRESENTED BY CHERYL
At only 20-years old, Daniel Moir is a force to be reckoned with. In just a short time, the young singer/songwriter has already accomplished feats that outnumber his few years. Drawing inspiration from personal insight and life experience that varies from a rocky childhood to vagabonding through Europe, Daniel has created a unique blend of folk music that shines wisdom far beyond his years.
Before pursuing a solo career, Daniel honed his performance skills singing, playing and recording with various local Bands. Daniel's music was soon noticed by producer Tom Dobrzanski, who invited Daniel to his Vancouver studio to work on his debut solo EP, "the Country and the Sea". The album charted on college radio across Canada and was heavily licensed, with the song "Change the World" appearing in the season finale of NBC's popular medical-drama, Mercy. This created much hype for this debut full-length album; "Road". "Road" was recorded in Calgary, AB with multi-award and Juno-winning producer Russell Broom (Jan Arden, Emm Gryner, Sam Roberts), and was co-engineered by David Kean (Bjork, Audities Foundation, etc.)
Daniel recently performed in a CBC concert for Alberta Arts Days which was aired to millions as a television special. After several Canadian tours and performances at various festivals, including playing for est. 15,000 at the Edmonton Folk Festival, it is safe to say that the future is bright for Daniel Moir.
As well as being a musician, Daniel is also an accomplished painter, he is dedicated in the practice of meditation and is a nature-enthusiast. He continues to write, record and tour relentlessly.
