Eclectic, eccentric and endlessly energetic, Cheer Up Charlie Daniels are one of the most raucous and underappreciated bands in Nashville. Using their wealth of prodigious musical chops and unbridled musical enthusiasm, they traverse territory as diverse as surf rock, country, power-pop, psychedelic and big band—making them this citys closest thing to quirky cult genre-jumpers Ween. Lyrically, they equate love to subjects such as high school truancy, chemistry experiments and time travel. Their stage show usually includes a smorgasbord of shenanigans—from outlandish attire to drum solos. Well just say it flat-out: CUCD are one of Music Citys must-see bands.
