Extremists have a free run in Pakistan

Pakistan, January 30: Difaa-i-Pakistan Council or Pakistan Defence Council – an alliance of Islamist parties, sectarian hate groups, militants and ex-military officers recently held a rally in Rawalpindi that showcased Pakistan’s extremist face. The radical road show was openly addressed by Hafiz Saeed, a fiercely anti-American cleric, who heads the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), the humanitarian wing of militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba. His outfit is responsible for 2008 Mumbai attacks and is banned in Pakistan and blacklisted by the United Nations.
