Issue of missing persons remains unresolved after long March

Quetta, Sep 01: Hoping to seek justice for disappeared persons in Balochistan, 72-year-old Mama Qadeer travelled more than 2,000 kms on foot along with a group of Baloch women and men from Quetta to Islamabad. He submitted a memorandum to the UN country office in Islamabad demanding an investigation of missing persons, target killings and involvement of agencies in heinous crimes in Balochistan. However, the Long March, supported by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, failed to bring any respite on incidents of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons continues to struggle for the safe release of over 18,000 Baloch activists who are currently being illegally detailed by Pakistani forces.
