Nominees for the British Academy Film Awards - the U.K.'s version of the Oscars - have been announced and silent movie "The Artist" led the pack with 12 nominations. Hot on its heels - thriller "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" received 11 nods. They will both go against "The Descendants," ''Drive" and "The Help" for best picture.
Looks like third time's the charm for Ricky Gervais. The comedian said he will not return to host the Golden Globes for a fourth year, saying that Sunday's (January 15) show was his favorite so far. As expected, Gervais made several jabs at high profile celebrities during his stint, but critics remained mostly lukewarm about his performance.
Finally, happy birthday to Betty White. The veteran actress turned 90-years old on Tuesday (January 17). "The Golden Girls" star had been working in showbiz for seven decades and has won seven Emmy Awards throughout her career.
