Actor Tom Hiddleston is among five nominees for this year's Orange Wednesday BAFTA rising star award.
Hiddleston burst onto the scene with Marvel's superhero blockbuster "Thor" early last year and has since gone on to play leading Hollywood roles, including in Steven Spielberg's "War Horse."
The actor is up against Eddie Redmayne, Adam Deacon, Chris O'Dowd and Chris Hemsworth who plays his on-screen brother in "Thor".
SOUNDBITE: Tom Hiddleston, nominee, saying (English):
''We didn't really know each other at that point and we were swimming -- in a swimming pool and I think he said to me 'Can you believe what's happening?' and I said 'No, I can't.' And I remember we sort of high fived and yeah cause it's kind of a big deal and it's amazing to have taken that journey with him and you know the two boys of Asgard are now Orange Wednesday's Rising Stars. It's mad."
After receiving much acclaim on the West End and Broadway, it is Eddie Redmayne's role in "My Week with Marilyn", where he stars alongside Michelle Williams that's created the recent buzz around him.
SOUNDBITE: Eddie Redmayne, nominee, saying (English):
"It's weird, you do all this work in, it all looks it's been timed to sort of a some great plan. It hasn't, it's all complete sort of coincidence. I've just been -- working for a few years now and you're just trying keep doing parts you are interested in, lucky enough to work on projects that have been fascinating this year and varied and so when it comes out when people you know I've done so much work that people never see. It's lovely when something -- hits the sort of Zeitgeist and people take interest. So it's really rewarding."
Now in its seventh year, the award recognizes and honours up and coming film talent from both the UK and abroad.
This year's winner will be announced at the BAFTA Awards on February 12.
