The BAFTA Rising Star nominees are unveiled

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts, more commonly known as BAFTA, announced their nominees for their Rising Star Award on Monday January 6, which looks at the young actors and actresses who look set to have a bright future in film.

Previous winners who were relative unknowns at the time include James McAvoy, Shia LaBeouf, Eva Green and Kristen Stewart.

Three of this year's five nominees attended the launch event at BAFTA headquarters in London - Will Poulter, Lea Seydoux and George MacKay.

French starlet Lea Seydoux may have already starred in the likes of "Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol", "Robin Hood" and "Inglourious Basterds", but it was the Palme D'Or winning lesbian drama "La Vie D'Adele" ("Blue is the Warmest Colour") that has put her firmly on the map.
