Protesters shut Oakland port

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in the Northern California city of Oakland.
They are marching in what they call a general strike against economic conditions and police brutality.
Some of demonstrators vandalized a branch of Wells Fargo bank.
Another building was pelted with chairs.
Though they fell short of their aim to paralyse the city, they did shut down operations at the Port of Oakland.
Protesters gathered at the port gates and stood on top of container trucks in the street
The city was catapulted to the forefront of the national anti-Wall Street protest movement after a former Marine was badly wounded during a rally last week.
More than 800 people have been arrested at anti-Wall Street rallies in New York City since protests began in September.
