The Flamingo Melodians - Lonely

This appears tp be another pseudonym of Jack Albin, who had a long term engagement at New York City's Hotel Pennsylvania during the early 1930s. Although Albin was quite popular, very little is known of him today. He did record extensively for many labels. This touching song was recorded in 1930, and the superb vocal is by Bill Coty. The tune is an excerpt of the feature film Call Of The Flesh, aka The Singer Of Seville, starring Ramón Novarro and Dorothy Jordan. As with several American films made between 1930 and 1932, Call of the Flesh was remade into two alternate language versions. Novarro appears in both, reprising his role as Juan de Dios Carbajal, and directed both of them. They were filmed using a different crew and supporting cast on the same sets. In the Spanish version, the lead actress was Conchita Montenegro, in the French version it was Suzy Vernon. A German-language version, also to be directed by Novarro, was never filmed for financial reasons.
