Bernardini - Travers 2006

Bernardini is winner of the 2006 Preakness Stakes and races in the Breeders Cup Classic Disvision. Having only lost his first race, Bernardini next won the Withers hand-ridden when Javier Castellano dropped the riding crop. He next won the Preakness, and was my second favorite behind Barbaro because in the Withers I was impressed by his professional running style, he stalked perfectly and closed with no doubt. He remained undefeated, proving he could stalk or lead, and often without breaking a sweat, until finally being defeated at the ultra-competitive Breeders Cup Classic on November 4th. He was outrun by Invasor in the stretch, placing second.
